Specifications:
This set contains 4 throttles with different cross sections as well as two temperature-measuring strips Our research indicates, most water-cooled model engines never reach correct operating temperatures. Typically either efficient waterpumps at low speeds or effective rudder or surface water inlets push too much water through the cooling system. The optimal temperature range for most high-speed model marine engines is around 80 to 90 C (approximately 176F to 194F). The engine water-cooling throttle set will allow you to fine-tune your water-cooling system for optimal operating temperatures. The temperature-measuring strips are completely sealed from contamination and water. The strips are not affected by most liquids such as oil, water, etc. The adhesive backing allows attaching it in hard-to-reach places.

The throttle is inserted into the cooling loop  tubing (with a 3-4 mm or approximately 1/8" ID) between the engine exit and water outlet.

The procedure is as follows:

Attach one of the included temperature-measuring strips on the watercooled head of the engine. Splice the the largest bore throttle and run the model in the water with the cooling system running. Check the temperature measuring strip. If no indicator on the strip has converted color from silver to black, the engine runs under 60C; too cool. Next, replace the water-cooling throttle with one with the next smaller diameter and repeat the run. The engine will now run warmer. Check the temperature-measuring strip. If one of the indicators converts to black, you now have a reference point. If it is over the 82C indicator, replace the throttle with a larger one, if it is under the 82C mark replace the throttle with the next smaller one and test again. In this methodical manner you can determine which throttle is most suitable to ensure that your particular setup allows the engine to attain the correct running temperature.
